Welcome to Year 5/6

Here you will find any useful information we may need to share with you. Please ask if you feel that there would be something else we could share here that might be useful.

Classes for 2025/26

Children stay in their own class for all subjects except the following:

Maths - one Year 6 class taught by Mrs Long/Mrs Bonsey and two Y5/6 mixed classes taught by Mr Bromley and Miss Cattley. 

Spelling - There will be one Year 5 spelling group, and two Year 6 spelling groups. 

Learning on an afternoon will run in the three usual classes, with Tuesday being a rotation where children do 3 weeks of IT, RE and art. There will also be a rotation for part of Wednesday morning, in which the children will do 3 weeks of P.E., Music and French. 

This will provide engaging, immersive learning for everyone, all year round!

P.E. Days

Children should have their P.E. kit in school every day in Year 5/6, just in case of extra sessions. However, it is vital that they have it in school on their P.E. days. This year, they are Wednesdays for everyone, Tuesdays for Mrs Long/Mrs Bonsey's, Thursdays for Miss Cattley's and Friday for Mr Bromley's. If they forget their PE kit, they will be expected to wear spare kit and then take it home for washing before returning it. Long hair should be tied back for P.E. and no jewellery (including earrings) or watches should be worn.
