Welcome to Year One and Two

Here you will be able to find a wealth of information about the many exciting things we will be getting up to over the coming year. In addition, you will also find information regarding homework, important dates and events and resources to support learning at home. If you have any questions during the course of the year please do not hesitate to contact us through the usual school channels. 

The Key Stage One Team

Who's Who?

We are very lucky to have a number of friendly faces in the Key Stage One team.

PE Days

Due to the way our timetables have been organised this year, PE days will alter week by week so it is advisable to bring kits to school on a Monday and leave them in the cloakrooms until Friday. As a rule your child will have PE twice a week on either ...

What a fantastic trip we had to Lotherton Hall. The sun shone all day and we thoroughly enjoyed hunting for bugs, looking at birds, exploring the gardens, dressing up and zooming down the zip wire.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC!

For the rest of this half term and into the next, we are excited to reveal that our topic will be all about MUSIC! Year 1/2 will be travelling through the musical timetime and discovering interesting instruments and different styles of music including: CLASSICAL, JAZZ, R&B, REGGAE, ROCK, PUNK and even MODERN POP! Our song of the week next week will be....

Tuesday 19th April is Hat Day

Please bring in a hat from home to help support our literacy and art activities this week. The hat can be whatever you already have at home - a flat cap, a cycling helmet, a bobble hat or beanie etc. Please do not worry if your child does not own a hat as there will be extras available on the day. Thank you.

SCIENCE FICTION WEEK

After half term, we are going to have a week dedicated to science fiction... so grab your lightsabers, jump into your time machines and let's go "to infinity and beyond!"

FOSSIL WORKSHOP

We have been looking at fossils and recreating our own in an exciting school workshop. The children even got to handle a real triceratops leg bone and even a dinosaur's egg!

DEVASTATING DINOSAURS!

In the first half of Spring Term we learnt all about the fascinating and mind-boggling world of the prehistoric land-lizards of yesteryear.... THE DINOSAURS!

The children were really enthused and inspired by this topic and we did a great deal of exciting activities, including:

TYRANNOSAURUS REX FACTS

STEGOSAURUS FACTS

Stegosaurus is one of the most famous of the great dinosaurs. It lived during the late Jurassic period, about 156 to 140 million years ago. It grew to be about 26 to 30 feet long and about nine feet tall. It weighed about 6,800 pounds. It was about the size of a bus.

Homework

Click on the link below to find copies of this week's homework. Maths and/or punctuation/grammar homework will be given out on a Friday to Y2 only and should be returned by the following Friday. Even though we are taking a break from 'handwriting' homework, there will be times when a second piece of formal homework will be given to all pupils. A copy of this will be available on this page.  If you have any questions regarding homework, please come and see us and we'll do our very best to help.
