Welcome to 3/4 Blue
Welcome to our class page! In 3/4 Blue we believe in having fun and working hard to achieve the best we can. On this page, we will keep you updated on all of the great things we get up to over the year.
Healthy Schools Week
We have all had a very busy week learning all about keeping healthy. We have tried lots of different sports, learned about healthy minds and tried some healthy foods.
We have been amazed by the quality of the Viking homework projects. It is clear to see the amount of time and effort that has gone into these. The children have thoroughly enjoyed making them and have learnt a lot. There was a huge range of boats, homes, weapons and farms.
Tuesday 1st December
Today we dressed up as amazing animals for our Animal Kingdom Day! Have a look at our costumes and masks. Don't we look fantastic?!
Friday 2nd October: Chocolate Adverts
What a great week we have had in 3/4 blue. We have been busy looking at TV and poster advertisements for chocolate. We discussed the features which made the television adverts effective and which were our favourites. We were big fans of both the 'Milky Bar Kid' adverts and the Cadbury's gorilla! We then had a competition in class to see who could create the best TV advert for a Cadbury's fudge bar. We worked in groups to create our adverts and rehearsed them until we were ready to perform. We used iPads to film and watch back each group before conducting a secret vote to crown our winners. Although the results were close, everybody agreed that our winning group were worthy winners. They managed to use lots of the features we had discussed and made their advert entertaining and informative. They were delighted to have won a fudge each as their prize!
We then went on to create some 'Amazing Adverts' in poster form. We either created a poster for our favourite chocolate bar or a chocolate bar we made up ourselves. The whole class worked extremely hard to make their posters as eye-catching as possible. Take a look at some pictures of us creating our posters!
Friday 25th September: Chocolate tasting!
This afternoon we have been extremely busy... tasting different types of chocolate! All of the children (and maybe the adults too!) were given a piece of milk, dark and white chocolate. Our job was to compare the different types and consider their appearance, texture and taste. We rated each of them out of 10 and decided which one was our favourite. The white chocolate was most popular, with the milk chocolate coming a close second. The dark chocolate was the least popular with some children pulling funny faces when they tasted how bitter it was!
We also completed a 'taste challenge'. We all had one piece of expensive milk chocolate and one piece of 'cheaper' milk chocolate. Children closed their eyes and their partner gave them one of the pieces. The children became chocolate detectives and had to guess which brand of chocolate they were tasting. Nearly all of the children guessed correctly!
We are definitely loving our 'sweet tooth' topic so far! Have a look at the pictures of our chocolate tasting below
Tuesday 22nd September: Roald Dahl Drama
Today we had lots of fun working in groups to recreate scenes from our favourite Roald Dahl books. Each group was given a different blurb from one of Dahl's books and our job was to create a piece of drama to help tell the story. We performed our drama to the rest of the class and the other children had to guess which book we were performing. Our acting was so brilliant, that we managed to guess all of the books correctly! Take a look at the pictures of us performing!
Well done to all of the children in 3/4 blue this week for winning 5 minutes extra playtime credit for their excellent attendance. Keep it up!
Why not have a go at playing this game all about teeth?! Not only will you learn about tooth decay, but you'll also have fun trying to protect the teeth from the plaque trying to destroy them!
