A very warm and smiley welcome to Miss King's year 5/6 class! We will keep you updated on all the things happening in our classroom; learning, creating, exploring, reading, growing and laughing together.
We designed our masks based on Greek theatre masks we had seen in topic. We then created them from papier-mâché and today we painted and completed them. They look amazing!
This week in Science, our focus was on making good predictions. We had to predict whether we thought a particular would dissolve in water before testing to discover whether or not we were correct.
We used the human crane game in Computing today to help us understand algorithms, debugging and lots of other computer science concepts. It was a lot of fun!
In Science today we discussed solutions and made them, and then investigated whether stirring makes any difference to the rate at which salt dissolves in water.
Earlier this week we designed a pot in the style of the Ancient Greeks. Today we got the chance to create them from clay. Next week we will paint them with our designs...
Year 5/6 Trip - 16th September
Today we went on our first school trip of the year! We explored different kinds of art at the gallery, found out lots of interesting things about the history of York at the Yorkshire Museum and experienced 423BC in an Ancient Greece workshop. A fantastic introduction to our Ancient Greeks topic!
Today we had our first gymnastics lesson with Mr Walton. We are looking at different ways of moving; already we're learning to think outside box and be creative.
