Welcome to our class!
On our class page, you will find lots of information about the different activities we get up to over the year. Take a look!
Mr Thomson joined us today to deliver a workshop all about space! We worked in groups to carry out five experiments to help us determine the best materials to make a spacecraft. Our experiments covered thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, magnetism, measuring mass and impact testing. We had a fantastic time and learnt lots!
Maths Buzz Challenge
Today, we worked in groups to solve some maths challenges. We needed to use our team work skills, methodical thinking and knowledge of many different areas of maths to solve the tricky tasks. We had great fun!
World Book Day!
A huge thank you to all of 3/4 Green's parents for helping us find, buy or make our fantastic costumes for World Book Day! Our costumes were fabulous and we had lots of fun doing our activities related to Peter Pan.
This week we have been learning about different states of matter. We had three balloons on each table and had to decide which contained a solid, which had a liquid and which one contained gas. We then had to justify our answers to the class. We split into to groups to learn about how the particles in each of state of matter behave and then tried to act these out using drama. Take a look below! (Stay tuned tuned for the video where we acted like gas particles!)
3/4 Green maths group - Magic measuring
In maths we have been learning about different units of measure and reading scales. We used the skills we have learnt this week to help a friendly witch to make her potion, dinner and a new cloak. We had lots of fun using our measuring skills!
Internet Safety Day
This week, we were very lucky to be taught about how to stay safe online by two of our digital leaders, Beth and Katie.
Forces and friction.
This week, we have been learning about the impact that different surfaces have on movement. We used a force meter to measure how much force was needed to pull a weight across different surfaces. We found that it took less force to move the object across a smooth surface because there was less friction.
This week, we have been writing a play script based on the Christmas film, 'The Snowman'. Watch some of our videos below.
The short film was written by Raymond Briggs (1978) and adapted for television (1982).
The Story of Babushka
We used the Book Creator app on the iPads to retell the story of Babushka. Have a look at some examples of our work below.
This afternoon, we have been on a chocolate treasure hunt around our school grounds! We had to follow the clues to lead us to our next destination and answer the questions at each stop. All of the questions were about things we have learnt during our sweet tooth topic and were related to teeth, digestion, chocolate, Charlie and the Choclate Factory and the journey and geography of cocoa beans. We worked well in our groups and had lots of fun. We especially enjoyed our chocolate treasure at the end!
Today, we've had a fantastic gymnastics lesson with our P.E. specialist, Miss Webster. We learnt how to travel along apparatus and came up with lots of very inventive ways of doing it! Check us out below!
We've had great fun working in groups to try and figure out how to put a skeleton together! Have a look at our efforts!
Today we had a fantastic samba drumming workshop. We learnt about the origins of samba, the names of some of the samba drums and had a go at playing the instruments. Check out our photos and videos below!
3/4 Green Maths Group
Today, we had a super lesson learning all about the properties of 3D shapes. We built our own 3D shapes using straws and blu-tack and recorded how many faces, edges and vertices each shape had!
As part of our sweet tooth topic, we learnt about different types of chocolate and some of their different ingredients. Most of us liked the white and milk chocolate. We weren't as keen on the chilli chocolate though!
Tooth decay experiment
We have been learning about how different drinks impact our teeth. We used egg shells to represent our teeth and left them in different liquids for a week. The liquids were Coke, Diet Coke, orange juice, milk and water. We then looked at how the egg shells had changed over that time. The results surprised some of us! See if you can remember which one is which!
